cardiac rehabilitation
After a heart attack or cardiac surgery, you need a comprehensive program of exercise, diet, psychological counseling and even vocational training to restore you to optimal function. Our Phase II Cardiac Rehabilitation program is designed with your needs in mind.
As a cardiac rehabilitation patient, you will typically spend six weeks in rehabilitation. You will exercise on a treadmill or a stationary bicycle while your heart rhythm and vital signs are being monitored constantly. We supplement your exercise regimen with educational programs on proper exercise, diet, cooking, smoking abstinence, medications and stress reduction.
For more information on our programs, please visit the Cardiac Resource Center.
Our Cardiac Rehabilitation program offers:
- Supervised exercise classes
- Behavior modification programs such as stress management and smoking cessation
- Nutrition evaluation and diet therapy
- Individual and group support for families
After you have completed your cardiac rehabilitation, you may then be referred to the next level of care:
- At community-based programs
– Explore Health with Sentara Center on Great Neck Road
– Princess Anne Recreation Center
– Sentara Hampton Health & Fitness Center - In a home program
With a physician’s order, most major insurance carriers cover Phase II cardiac rehabilitation services at TCI.
